A great (wobbly) video from the 80s when a group of people got together to show ‘one last film’ at the Essoldo in Stretford (then a bingo hall). 40 years later and with a great big plan for Stretford in the distance, could we be in for some more silver screen reunions?

I’m from Urmston and my family from Stretford too. I been living in Blackpool for 14 years . A cinema has been brought back to life here.

Hope this can happen to the Essoldo/Longford were losing too much of our history. Look what happened to Longford Hall.
Fascinating.
Absolutely loved this. I was born in what was then known as Park Hospital In Urmston we lived in Urmston before moving to Stretford. We went to St Matthews Primary School which was 125 years old then!! We had outside toilets Mr Smith was the Head Teacher. We had six kids in our family and always went to the saturday morning Matinee at the Essoldo. Great memories which have made me realise how ancient I am! Fabulous trip down memory lane.
